Our world is changing. Crisis and emergency events, which previously used to be occasional, are now becoming increasingly frequent and more severe. The impacts of these events are being felt by more people around the world than ever before.

Above are images of some of the more serious crisis and emergency events that have impacted Aotearoa New Zealand over the last two decades. A combination of natural and man-made events, they show a wide range of hazards and impacts which residents have had to deal with.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Safer Future
At Strategic Consulting Services (SCS) we specialise in helping governments, sectors, organisations and communities reduce the likelihood and/or impact of such events.
This is because the responsibility for reducing the likelihood and/or impact such risks is not the job of governments alone. It requires an inclusive, all of society approach, as shown below:

identify and learn the lessons from crisis and emergency events to reduce the likelihood and/or impact of similar events happening in the future.
We do this though a comprehensive crisis and disaster risk management approach of risk identification, assessment and mitigation, using risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery practices to help build greater resilience to the sorts of events we are seeing and experiencing in the modern world.
